Abstract

Endometriosis is one of the most enigmatic and controversial gynecological diseases and consequently an ideal treatment is lacking, especially when fertility must be preserved. The therapies given to women with endometriosis aim to eliminate pain or treat associated infertility. However, the application of the various treatments has frequently been based on empiricism or observational studies. The present article aims to analyze the evidence currently available in the literature on the real value of both surgical and medical treatment in the management of patients with endometriosis.
