Modern non-invasive diagnosis of endometriosis
This review evaluated over 30 non-invasive biomarkers in various biological samples for endometriosis diagnosis, finding no single marker or combination with sufficient accuracy for clinical use.

The paper reviews studies from 2017–2022 on non-invasive biomarkers for diagnosing endometriosis, searching PubMed, ResearchGate, and eLibrary using keywords related to endometriosis and biomarkers in multiple biological media. Across included publications, the authors assessed over 30 candidate biomarkers measured in peritoneal fluid, blood serum, urine, and saliva, and found that diagnostic performance results were sometimes conflicting. They could not identify any single biomarker or biomarker combination with unequivocally sufficient clinical utility, noting that the most notable biochemical changes were in peritoneal fluid but its collection requires invasive intervention; saliva and urine showed promising diagnostic accuracy but the evidence quality was low for clinical recommendations, and serum markers lacked enough evidence to draw firm conclusions. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it synthesizes evidence on modern non-invasive diagnostic biomarkers for early endometriosis detection.
