The paper provides an overview of endometriosis in women of reproductive age, describing prevalence and major symptoms, and explaining current concepts in pathogenesis and diagnostic approaches. Drawing on high-level clinical observations, it emphasizes that physical exams are often unremarkable, so detailed history taking is crucial, and it reports that the average interval from symptom onset to diagnosis is about 6–8 years. A key limitation is that it notes pain generation in endometriosis remains broadly not understood and that symptoms appear complex and multifactorial. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it focuses on endometriosis pathogenesis, symptoms, and diagnosis and highlights the diagnostic delay and complexity of pain mechanisms.
