Epigenetic Dynamics of HOXA10 Gene in Infertile Women With Endometriosis
This study investigated HOXA10 gene expression and its epigenetic regulation in eutopic and ectopic endometrium of infertile women with endometriosis.

This study examined HOXA10 gene expression and epigenetic features in the promoter region of HOXA10 in endometrium from 36 women with endometriosis and 21 fertile controls, comparing eutopic endometrium and ectopic lesions across proliferative and secretory phases using chromatin immunoprecipitation and real-time PCR. In eutopic tissue during the secretory phase, HOXA10 expression was reduced alongside lower H3K9 acetylation, higher H3K9 methylation, and greater MeCP2 binding to the HOXA10 promoter, whereas ectopic lesions showed phase-dependent patterns: induction of HOXA10 in the secretory phase with increased H3K9ac, H3K27me3, and H3K4me3, and HOXA10 upregulation in the proliferative phase with reduced MeCP2 and increased H3K4me3. A major limitation is that the work is correlational and does not establish causal mechanisms linking these chromatin changes to HOXA10-driven pathology.
