The Effects of Resveratrol Treatment on Bcl-2 and Bax Gene Expression in Endometriotic Compared with Non-Endometriotic Stromal Cells
Resveratrol treatment increased Bcl-2 and the Bcl-2/Bax ratio in control and eutopic endometriotic stromal cells, but had limited effects on ectopic endometriotic stromal cells.

This study investigated the effects of resveratrol on apoptosis-related gene expression by measuring Bcl-2 and Bax in endometriotic versus non-endometriotic stromal cells. Stromal cells were compared at the gene-expression level after resveratrol treatment to determine whether resveratrol differentially modulates pro- and anti-apoptotic signaling between these cell types. The paper reports that resveratrol altered Bcl-2 and Bax expression in a way that differed between endometriotic and non-endometriotic stromal cells, consistent with modulation of apoptosis-related pathways. The key limitation is that the work is based on stromal cell gene-expression assays rather than in vivo functional outcomes. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it examines how resveratrol changes Bcl-2 and Bax expression in endometriotic versus non-endometriotic stromal cells.
