CD10 is useful in demonstrating endometrial stroma at ectopic sites and in confirming a diagnosis of endometriosis
This study found that CD10 immunoreactivity is maintained in ectopic endometrial stroma and can help confirm endometriosis diagnoses when morphology is unclear.

This study evaluated the utility of CD10 immunohistochemical staining as a diagnostic marker for identifying ectopic endometrial stroma in twenty-five confirmed cases of endometriosis. The researchers found that CD10 positivity was present in 22 of the 25 cases, with staining largely confined to endometrial stromal cells and showing minimal cross-reactivity with other tissues. The authors note that while the marker is highly effective for confirming diagnosis in cases with morphological doubt or sparse stroma, it holds no value for ovarian endometriotic cysts where stroma may be absent. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — specifically using CD10 immunohistochemistry to aid in the histological confirmation of ectopic endometrial tissue.
