Endometriosis and Infertility: Surgery and IVF: When, Why, and Outcomes

Endometriosis is currently recognized as one of the most common diseases associated with infertility. The frequency rate of endometriosis in patients with infertility reaches 50% compared to approximately 6–7% among fertile women with preserved reproductive function. The multifactorial nature of endometriosis-associated infertility can potentially explain the low rate of restoration of fertility in such patients using not only generally accepted (surgical and conservative) treatment methods, but also different methods of assisted reproductive technologies. Development of the most effective management strategy for patients suffering from various forms and stages of endometriosis is one of the top priorities for physicians and scientists.
