Asociación entre endometriosis pélvica y estrés oxidativo
Studies suggest oxidative stress may be involved in pelvic endometriosis, with infertile women showing altered pro- and antioxidant levels in peritoneal fluid or endometrial tissue, but not consistently in plasma.

This paper assessed the current evidence on whether pelvic endometriosis is associated with oxidative stress, using a thematic search of ScienceDirect and Medline (PubMed) for English-language studies published between January 1990 and June 2012 that evaluated links between oxidative stress and pelvic endometriosis. Across 984 abstracts screened and 45 full relevant studies included, the authors report that both human studies and experimental models propose oxidative stress involvement in the pathophysiology of pelvic endometriosis. In particular, some studies in women with endometriosis-associated infertility found higher pro-oxidants and lower antioxidants in peritoneal fluid or endometrial tissue, while findings were inconsistent in plasma or serum. The paper concludes that the role of reactive oxygen species remains unclear, which limits definitive conclusions. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — a systematic review of the association between pelvic endometriosis and oxidative stress.
