Glutathione S-transferase M1 and T1 gene polymorphisms in Brazilian women with endometriosis
This study compared GSTM1 and GSTT1 gene polymorphisms in Brazilian women with and without endometriosis, finding no difference in GSTM1 but a higher prevalence of GSTT1 null genotype in controls.

This case-control study investigated the association between glutathione S-transferase M1 (GSTM1) and T1 (GSTT1) gene polymorphisms and endometriosis in a cohort of Brazilian women. Researchers compared genotypes from 121 patients with surgically confirmed endometriosis against 97 controls without the disease, analyzing potential links to menstrual cycle intervals. The results indicated no significant difference in GSTM1 null genotype frequencies between groups, whereas the GSTT1 null genotype was significantly more prevalent in the control group, suggesting a protective effect against endometriosis development.
