Effect of Mirena intrauterine device combined with GNRH-A on endometriosis, sex hormone level and carbohydrate antigen 125
Mirena combined with GnRH-a demonstrated higher clinical efficacy, reduced pain, lower hormone and CA125 levels, and a lower recurrence rate compared to GnRH-a alone in endometriosis patients.

This randomized study enrolled 80 patients with endometriosis (March 2019 to March 2020) and allocated them by random number table method to receive GnRH-a alone (control, n=40) or Mirena (levonorgestrel intrauterine sustained release) combined with GnRH-a (observation, n=40). The main outcomes compared were total clinical efficacy, sex hormone levels (E2, FSH, LH), serum CA125, pain by VAS including dysmenorrhea and sexual intercourse pain, and postoperative recurrence rate. After treatment, the observation group showed higher total effective rate (92.50% vs 75.00%), lower VAS pain scores, and lower E2/FSH/LH and CA125, along with a lower recurrence rate (5.00% vs 20.00%), with statistically significant between-group differences. The paper provides these results without describing any specific limitation or caveat in the excerpt, and it is centrally about endometriosis—specifically evaluating Mirena plus GnRH-a on endometriosis outcomes, hormones, CA125, pain, and recurrence.
