Endometrial miR-543 Is Downregulated During the Implantation Window in Women With Endometriosis-Related Infertility
This study investigated miRNA expression in the endometrium during the implantation window and found miR-543 downregulated in women with endometriosis-related infertility.

This study investigated microRNA expression in eutopic endometrial tissue during the implantation window in women with endometriosis-related infertility, using a microarray with bioinformatics (6 women each) followed by qRT-PCR arrays in 35 women with endometriosis and 35 disease-free controls across menstrual stages. The key finding was that miR-543 was significantly downregulated during the implantation window in patients with endometriosis, while it showed increased expression at the peri-implantation phase compared with the proliferative phase in disease-free women. The authors also reported five other miRNAs that were differentially expressed, but the study does not provide functional experiments directly proving causality for miR-543’s role in implantation. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it identifies implantation-window-specific downregulation of endometrial miR-543 in women with endometriosis-related infertility.
