The Role of Macrophage Colony Stimulating Factor in the Peritoneal Fluid in Infertile Patients with Endometriosis.
This study found higher concentrations of M-CSF in the peritoneal fluid of infertile patients with endometriosis, correlating with endometriosis severity in primary infertility cases.

This study measured macrophage colony stimulating factor (M-CSF) concentrations in peritoneal fluid from 44 infertile patients, comparing those with endometriosis to those without. The authors found significantly higher peritoneal M-CSF levels in patients with endometriosis, but there was no significant overall association between M-CSF concentration and endometriosis stage by revised American Fertility Society (rAFS) classification across the full group. However, among primary infertility patients with endometriosis, M-CSF levels correlated significantly with rAFS points, and the authors speculate this relates to primary infertility and progression.
