Autoimmune markers for non-invasive diagnosis of endometriosis in women
This study identified IgG antibodies to tropomyosin 3, α-enolase, and estradiol as promising biomarkers for non-invasive endometriosis diagnosis, achieving high sensitivity and specificity when combined.

The study investigated the autoantibody profile in women with stage III–IV endometriosis and assessed diagnostic performance using modified enzyme immunoassays. Among 39 patients, a broad IgG autoantibody spectrum was detected, targeting endometrial antigens (tropomyosin 3, tropomodulin 3), α-enolase, steroid hormones (estradiol, progesterone), and gonadotropic hormones, with higher detection frequency and levels for IgG to tropomyosin 3, α-enolase, estradiol, and human chorionic gonadotropin versus 26 healthy controls. IgG to tropomyosin 3, α-enolase, and estradiol showed the highest diagnostic value, and combining them yielded an AUC of 0.875 with sensitivity and specificity of 83.3% each; the main caveat is the small sample sizes and restriction to stage III–IV patients.
