Pharmacological Treatment of Chronic Pelvic Pain

Chronic pelvic pain consists of a range of conditions that affects both men and women, leading to significant functional, physical, and psychological disability. This symptom encompasses a wide range of pathologies in the somatic and visceral structures, as a result of the sensitisation of peripheral and central transducers and transmitters of pain. Treatment of those conditions currently relies on combination therapy aimed at targeting different components of the pain neuraxis. This chapter reviews the different types of treatments available as well as their efficacy in relieving chronic pelvic pain syndromes.
