Estrogen Production and Metabolism in Endometriosis
Endometriosis tissue aberrantly expresses aromatase, stimulated by PGE2, leading to local estrogen production and a positive feedback cycle, while deficient 17beta-HSD type 2 impairs estrogen inactivation.
