Abstract
Recognizing the limited information, vague diagnostic criterion, and difficult clinical challenges posed by adenomyosis, the Society of Endometriosis and Uterine Disorders organized an expert symposium to present the current understanding of adenomyosis, as well as important questions for future research. The purpose of the meeting was to bring together a diverse group of specialists to highlight both advances and future areas of growth over a wide range of topics related to adenomyosis. The presentations demonstrated both the novel insights and therapeutic progress over the past several decades, as well as the often frustrating challenges in moving adenomyosis research forward. This article summarizes the presentations provided by participants and, as such, does not serve as an exhaustive structured review on the topic of adenomyosis as a disease process.
