This Iranian case-control study examined whether the IL-8 -251T/A gene polymorphism is associated with endometriosis risk, genotyping 100 endometriosis patients and 100 healthy controls using PCR-RFLP and estimating odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals. The authors report no statistically significant association between IL-8 -251 variants and endometriosis development (χ2=1.02, P=0.63). Subgroup analyses by disease severity also found no significant relationship between the polymorphism and either risk or severity (P>0.05). This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it tests the association between the IL-8 -251T/A polymorphism and endometriosis risk in Iranian women.
