Expressions of VEGF and Ki-67 in eutopic endometrium of patients with endometriosis and effect of Quyu Jiedu Recipe (祛瘀解毒方) on VEGF expression
Endometriosis patients showed higher VEGF and Ki-67 expression than controls, and Quyu Jiedu Recipe lowered VEGF levels post-treatment.

This randomized trial studied 50 patients with endometriosis assigned to either the Quyu Jiedu Recipe (QJR) or gestrinone, and compared them with 20 healthy women, assessing eutopic endometrial VEGF and Ki-67 expression before treatment and again after 3 months at the median secretory phase using immunohistochemical staining. Before treatment, patients showed higher VEGF and Ki-67 positive rates and mean optical density in eutopic endometrium than healthy controls (P<0.05). After treatment, VEGF expression (positive rate and mean optical density) decreased significantly in the treated groups, while Ki-67 changed insignificantly, and QJR and gestrinone did not differ significantly in these outcomes (P>0.05). The paper explicitly links this to a mechanism involving lowered eutopic endometrial VEGF expression and does not report a major limitation beyond the described design parameters, noting symptom improvements and biomarker changes; this paper is centrally about endometriosis—specifically QJR effects on VEGF and Ki-67 expression in eutopic endometrium of patients with endometriosis.
