Zusammenfassung Bei der Endometriose handelt es sich um eine Erkrankung, die durch außerhalb des Cavum uteri wachsendes Endometrium verursacht ist. Dieses Endometrium kann ähnliche zyklische Verän-derungen durchlaufen wie das normale, eutope Endometrium. Die Erkrankung ist oft für starke Schmerzen, vor allem bei jungen Frauen, verantwortlich.Vermutlich wirkt das ektope Endome-trium auf das Peritoneum ein, und löst dort chronisch-entzündliche Prozesse aus.
