Expression of tyrosine kinase receptor B in eutopic endometrium of women with adenomyosis
Tyrosine kinase receptor B (TrkB) protein and mRNA expression are elevated in the secretory endometrium of women with adenomyosis, correlating positively with serum CA125 and dysmenorrhea.

This study investigated whether tyrosine kinase receptor B (TrkB) is expressed in eutopic (non-ectopic) endometrium of women with adenomyosis and whether its expression relates to clinical characteristics. Endometrial tissues were collected from 31 women with adenomyosis and 30 adenomyosis-free controls undergoing surgery for benign indications, and TrkB levels were measured by immunohistochemistry and reverse-transcription PCR. TrkB protein and mRNA expression were significantly higher in the secretory-phase endometrium of women with adenomyosis than in controls, and TrkB protein levels correlated positively with serum CA125 and dysmenorrhea; a limitation is the relatively small sample size and focus on surgical specimens from benign-indication patients. This paper is centrally about endometriosis? No—it is centrally about adenomyosis—showing elevated TrkB expression in eutopic endometrium of women with adenomyosis and associations with CA125 and dysmenorrhea.
