Pregnancy and childbirth in patients with endometriosis
This review examines the impact of endometriosis on pregnancy and childbirth, including associations with complications, postpartum issues, premature birth, and future research directions.
One-sentence paraphrase of the abstract; not a substitute for reading it. No clinical advice. How this works
This narrative review synthesizes literature on how endometriosis affects the course of pregnancy and childbirth, including how prior endometriosis treatment relates to pregnancy complications such as preeclampsia and hypertension, as well as postpartum complications and rates of premature birth. It compiles findings across different study designs to outline directions for future research on pregnancy in patients with endometriosis. The review does not present new original data, and its conclusions are therefore limited by the heterogeneity and scope of the included studies, as is typical for this type of literature synthesis. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it specifically reviews effects of endometriosis and its prior treatments on pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum outcomes.
