Effect of Letrozole on endometriosis-related pelvic pain.

This randomized controlled trial studied whether adding letrozole to continuous oral contraceptive therapy improves endometriosis-related pelvic pain after laparoscopic excision/ablation, enrolling laparoscopically confirmed patients with moderate-to-severe dyspareunia, dysmenorrhea, or pelvic pain. Patients received either letrozole plus OCP or OCP alone for 4 months, with pain severity assessed by visual analogue scale (VAS) at 1 and 4 months and endometriosis severity recorded using revised ASRM scores; limitations included a small sample and the inability to isolate letrozole’s effect from the OCP, and no second-look laparoscopy to assess changes in lesion size. All participants reported pain improvement within 1 month and further decreases by 4 months, with significant reductions in all pain domains in both groups but no significant between-group differences, and no reported letrozole or OCP side effects over the study period.
