Effect of ovarian endometrioma on uterine and ovarian blood flow in infertile women
This study found no significant differences in uterine or ovarian blood flow parameters between infertile women with unilateral ovarian endometrioma and controls, suggesting endometriomas do not impair vascularization.

This case–control study evaluated whether unilateral ovarian endometrioma affects uterine and ovarian blood flow in 276 infertile women undergoing IVF, comparing 138 women with endometriomas to 138 women with male-factor or unexplained infertility. In the mid-luteal (peri-implantation) phase, the authors measured endometrial thickness and uterine/ovarian artery pulsatility and resistance indices, along with 3-D power Doppler virtual organ computer-aided analysis vascularization index, flow index, and vascularization flow index, using a single trained operator and reporting intraobserver reliability. They found no significant differences between groups in any Doppler or volume measures, and no changes were observed with endometrioma size or when comparing endometrioma-containing ovaries to contralateral ovaries. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it directly tests how ovarian endometriomas relate to uterine and ovarian vascular parameters in infertile women scheduled for IVF.
