Abstract
Presently, several endometriosis features are subject of research due to some gaps that remain concerning the actual origin of this disease. If one could find out how endometrial tissue implants in extrauterine sites, its diagnosis and treatment would advance significantly. One of the leading investigations focus on immunological issues, since different cells and cytokines take part in cellular and humoral immune response in the development of endometriosis. This article proposes an updated review of the relation between endometriosis and immunology and brings new clinical perspectives for disease management.
