Recurrence Rate and Risk Factors for the Recurrence of Ovarian Endometriosis after Laparoscopic Ovarian Cystectomy
This retrospective study found a 22.6% recurrence rate for ovarian endometriosis after laparoscopic cystectomy, with postoperative medical treatment and pregnancy associated with decreased recurrence.

This retrospective study analyzed 106 patients who underwent laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy for endometriomas to identify risk factors associated with disease recurrence. The research found that postoperative medical treatment and subsequent pregnancy were significant protective factors, reducing the likelihood of recurrent ovarian endometriosis compared to patients who did not receive these interventions. Conversely, traditional variables such as patient age, body mass index, cyst size, and American Society for Reproductive Medicine stage showed no statistically significant correlation with recurrence in this cohort.
