Endometriosis: From Diagnosis to Surgical Management

The aim of this chapter is to outline the clinical rationale for diagnosis, knowledge of extent of lesions, and planning of surgical treatment of endometriosis. The importance of knowing the different forms of endometriosis in order to direct the main complementary exams for diagnosis and the surgical treatment is discussed in this chapter. There are different approaches for the surgical treatment of disease according to the most affected organs: the uterus, vagina, bladder, ovaries, or intestine. The need of a multidisciplinary team involved in the management of this complex disease is mandatory.
