The effects of lauromacrogol injection into rat endometrial cysts: a preliminary experimental study
A 1% lauromacrogol injection significantly reduced endometrial cyst volumes and caused atrophy in a rat model, unlike a 0.5% concentration or no treatment.

The study evaluated whether different concentrations of lauromacrogol injections reduce endometriosis-like lesions in a rat model, using autologous endometrial tissue transplantation to establish 40 endometrial cysts randomized to 1% lauromacrogol, 0.5% lauromacrogol, or untreated controls. Cyst changes were assessed by measuring cyst volumes and by comparing pre- and post-treatment lesion/implant volume, alongside histological examination of epithelia, glands, and surrounding stroma. The 1% concentration produced a statistically significant reduction in spherical volume with histopathological evidence of epithelial and gland atrophy and loose, edematous stromal tissue, whereas the 0.5% group showed no significant volume difference versus baseline. The paper’s main caveat is that it is described as preliminary, with an experimental basis aimed at pre-clinical application rather than established efficacy, and the abstract does not quantify sample sizes per group beyond the total. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it tests lauromacrogol injections at different doses for regression of endometrial cysts in an experimental rat endometriosis model.
