Laparoscopic treatment of deep endometriosis with a diode laser: our experience

This double-center retrospective study evaluated feasibility, safety, and effectiveness of laparoscopic excision of deep endometriosis using a Leonardo DUAL 45 diode laser (980/1470 nm) in 50 women aged 18–45 with histologically confirmed deep endometriosis, undergoing surgery between November 2017 and March 2019 and having at least 12 months of follow-up. Using medical record data, the authors assessed operative parameters and changes in pain (modified Biberoglu and Behrman scale) and quality of life at 3-, 6-, and 12-month visits, with surgery performed for chronic pelvic pain and/or infertility-related indications. They reported no intraoperative or early (within 30 days) complications, median operative time of 147 minutes, discharge within about 3 days on average, and significant improvement in pain and quality of life at follow-up (p < 0.01), while explicitly noting the need for randomized trials to better confirm efficacy, recurrence, and pregnancy outcomes.
