The paper is a narrative analysis of recent internet-accessible scientific literature aiming to summarize prevalence and main risk factors for uterine leiomyoma and genital endometriosis. Across included sources, reported comorbidity between uterine leiomyoma and endometriosis ranges widely, with specific estimates including 12–20% (and examples such as 28% in a Thai study), 12–87.1% in other reports, and a Polish estimate of 57.9%, while a retrospective analysis found 25.8% comorbidity among endometriosis patients and 19.6% among leiomyoma patients. It highlights a Finnish hypothesis that symptomatic endometriosis overlaps with leiomyoma symptoms and reports a high Japan Nurses’ Health Study–based risk estimate for comorbid endometriosis with leiomyoma (4.47, 95% CI 4.09–4.87), with the major limitation being that conclusions are derived from heterogeneous, non-uniform literature sources rather than a single standardized study design. Relevance to endometriosis: it directly reviews the epidemiology and co-occurrence of genital endometriosis with uterine leiomyoma and summarizes multiple cited prevalence/risk estimates of their comorbidity, though the paper’s main focus is the combined epidemiology and risk-factor literature for both conditions.

Abstract

Ask this paper AI returns verbatim quotes from the full text · source: oa-doi-fallback

Answers must be backed by verbatim quotes from this paper's full text. Hallucinated quotes are dropped automatically; if no verbatim passage answers the question, we say so. How this works

Citation neighborhood

Papers in the corpus that this work cites (lower rings, blue) and that cite this one (upper rings, green). Dot size scales with the paper's in-corpus citation count — bigger dot = more influential within the endo/adeno field. Click a dot to open that paper. [ expand to 2 hops ] — adds papers reached through this work's immediate citers/citees. Heavier; up to 60 extra dots.
