Comparative efficiency of intraperitoneal interleukine-2 and interferon-α in rats with experimental endometriosis
Intraperitoneal administration of IL-2 and IFN-α in rats with endometriosis resulted in heterotopia regression and reduced proliferative activity, vascularization, and macrophage infiltration.

This paper compared the effects of intraperitoneal interleukin-2 versus interferon-α in rats with experimentally induced endometriosis, using injections of rat IFN-α and human IL-2 and assessing regression of endometrioid heterotopies. Complete regression occurred in 50% of rats treated with IFN-α and in 60% treated with IL-2, while in cases with retained endometrioid epithelium both treatments significantly reduced proliferative activity, vascularization, and the number of macrophages in leukocytic infiltration. A key limitation is that the provided information does not describe sample size, dosing regimen, randomization/blinding, or the full methods used to quantify the histologic and inflammatory endpoints. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it directly tests intraperitoneal IL-2 and IFN-α for regression of experimental endometrioid heterotopies in rats.
