El estudio evaluó el comportamiento del dolor pélvico crónico en mujeres atendidas en la consulta de dolor crónico del Hospital Dr. Luís Díaz Soto entre abril de 2011 y abril de 2012, incluyendo 114 pacientes y midiendo la intensidad del dolor con la escala visual análoga (EVA). Se observó dolor pélvico crónico en mujeres con edad promedio de 26 años, con antecedentes en 61 casos de enfermedad inflamatoria pélvica y en 45 de cirugía ginecológica previa; como causas contribuyentes se reportaron monoterapia analgésica, dosificación insuficiente y cronofarmacoterapia inadecuada. Tras un tratamiento multimodal (analgésicos, antiinflamatorios, relajantes del músculo liso, antidepresivos y ozono), una proporción mayoritaria de pacientes (85,96%) refirió alivio, con efectos adversos principalmente como náuseas con tramadol y epigastralgia con antiinflamatorios no esteroideos, sin suspensión del tratamiento.
