An adolescent with chronic pelvic pain.

A.B. is a 14-year-old G0. She is brought to the office by her mother. A.B. says that she experiences severe cramping for 3 to 4 days each month with pain located primarily in her lower abdomen but sometimes causing aching in her thighs. Occasionally the pain makes her nauseated. She is not sexually active and says she is not planning to become active any time soon. During her periods A.B. misses school and social events. She hopes to try out for cheerleading but is worried that she will be unable to participate if events are scheduled when she has her periods. (excerpt)
