This integrative review aimed to evaluate the epidemiological profile, treatment approaches, and biopsychosocial aspects related to sexual health in women with endometriosis, asking how endometriosis influences women’s sexual behaviors and associated well-being. The authors searched BVS and PubMed using “Endometriose AND Dispareunia AND Qualidade de Vida” and its English equivalent, limiting results to the last 10 years, and included cisgender women of reproductive age with active sexual life and previously diagnosed pelvic or deep endometriosis who had sexual disturbances or complaints (excluding studies involving women using psychotropic drugs). From 227 initial articles, 15 met inclusion criteria and the review reports sexual impacts such as reduced intercourse frequency, bleeding during or after sex, decreased interest in foreplay, positional discomfort, relationship breakups, and marital conflicts, with dyspareunia highlighted as central. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it reviews how endometriosis affects female sexual health, particularly dyspareunia and quality of life-related biopsychosocial outcomes, and it does not explicitly address adenomyosis.
