This study examined depression and the factors influencing depression in 118 outpatients diagnosed with endometriosis recruited from seven hospitals in Busan City and Kyungsangnam-do, using instruments including the Beck Depression Inventory, the Lemaire Scale for endometriosis syndrome (including TSD), Mishel Uncertainty in Illness Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, and the endometriosis-specific quality of life measure (EHP-5). Depression differed significantly by marital status and showed positive correlations with endometriosis syndrome (TSD), uncertainty, and quality of life, while correlating negatively with self-esteem. In stepwise multiple regression, self-esteem was the strongest predictor (R2=0.311), and a combination of self-esteem, quality of life, and total symptom distress explained 50.0% of the variance in depression. The paper focuses on identifying influencing factors and does not provide intervention methods beyond noting that further studies are needed. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it identifies self-esteem, quality of life, and endometriosis TSD as influencing factors of depression in women with endometriosis.
