The effect of psychotherapeutic interventions on pain and quality of life in endometriosis: a systematic review and meta-analysis study
This systematic review and meta-analysis found that psychotherapeutic interventions significantly improved quality of life for women with endometriosis, though no significant effects were observed for pain or overall health profile.

This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated randomized controlled trials in women diagnosed with endometriosis, assessing whether psychotherapeutic interventions (e.g., yoga, hypnotherapy, mindfulness-based therapy, and other non-pharmacologic or related approaches) affected pain, quality of life, and health profile, using database searches conducted between August and October 2024 and including 10 eligible studies. Across included studies, psychotherapeutic interventions improved quality of life (SMD = 0.515, 95% CI = 0.035 to 0.995), while effects on pain and health profile were not statistically significant in the pooled estimates, and subgroup analyses suggested intervention type was not effective but number of sessions was. The authors report substantial heterogeneity for pain outcomes (I² = 84.463%), and the available trials limited certainty for some outcomes. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it systematically analyzes psychotherapeutic interventions’ effects on endometriosis-related pain and quality of life.
