Abstract

Natural bioactive compounds, such as curcumin, polyphenols, and flavonoids are important in the prevention and treatment of lifestyle disorders like diabetes, cancer, and heart disease. Their immunomodulatory, antiviral, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory qualities help to improve host defense systems against infections and reduce oxidative stress. The majority of bioactive compounds utilized to manage endometriosis have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. They also influence endocrine function, especially by lowering estrogen levels. One well-known example of such a substance is curcumin, a strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory that has been demonstrated to reduce the production of estrogen, prevent angiogenesis, and stunt the growth of endometrial lesions. Bioactive compounds can be found in all plants containing phenolic chemicals, including the subgroup known as flavonoids, which have been thoroughly researched in grains, legumes, nuts, olive oil, fruits, vegetables, tea, and red wine. In addition to components essential to the human body and that provide a consistent supply of nutrient-dense foods, there are functional ingredients that can enhance human well-being. Functional foods enriched with bioactive compounds and other naturally derived nutrients have attracted increasing attention from the scientific community and industry in recent years. Their antibacterial, anticancer, and antioxidant qualities have received special attention. Through the reduction of oxidative stress and chronic inflammation, dietary patterns and nutritional intake are recognized as important modulators of the pathophysiological processes underlying many diseases, including endometriosis.
