Well-Differentiated Papillary Mesothelioma of the Female Peritoneum
This study reviewed 26 female peritoneal well-differentiated papillary mesothelioma cases, finding most were incidental findings with no recurrences or deaths related to the disease after follow-up.

This study analyzed the clinicopathologic features of 26 cases of well-differentiated papillary mesothelioma (WDPM) in women over a twenty-year period, noting that all patients lacked asbestos exposure. The research found that WDPM was typically an incidental finding during surgery for other conditions, with six patients having a history of endometriosis and lesions occurring on various peritoneal surfaces including the uterus and fallopian tubes. Follow-up data indicated that while the tumor has uncertain malignant potential, it generally behaves indolently, with only one recurrence observed among the majority of survivors who remained disease-free. Relevance to endometriosis: the paper is tangentially related, as it mentions endometriosis as a pre-existing condition in six of the studied patients but does not investigate any causal or pathological link between endometriosis and WDPM.
