Miscarriage Rates Due to Endometriosis: A Retrospective Cohort Study

This retrospective cohort study (2015–2018) from a single obstetrics/gynecology department compared miscarriage rates between pregnant patients with confirmed endometriosis and those without, using pathology reports and ultrasound to define groups. In 62 endometriosis and 65 non-endometriosis patients, overall miscarriage rates were not significantly different (32% vs 20%), and the paper notes that no endometriosis/non-endometriosis effect was observed in the combined analysis. A significant difference in miscarriage rates was found between in vitro fertilization and non–in vitro fertilization pregnancies, and within the in vitro fertilization subgroup miscarriage was higher in patients with endometrioma than in those without endometrioma (p=0.008).
