Magnetic resonance imaging findings of extrapelvic endometriosis of the round ligament
Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a round ligament mass with specific enhancement patterns in a woman presenting with a painful menstrual-associated inguinal mass, later diagnosed as endometriosis.

This paper reports a single case of a 31-year-old woman with a painful groin mass presenting around menses, who underwent evaluation with magnetic resonance imaging. MRI showed a poorly circumscribed elastic-hard mass with continuity along the inguinal course of the uterine round ligament, with strong enhancement and high signal on diffusion-weighted imaging. After surgery, histology confirmed endometriosis localized to the round ligament, and the patient’s pain was completely relieved postoperatively. The authors’ main caveat is that the evidence is limited to a case report. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — specifically extrapelvic endometriosis of the uterine round ligament presenting as a groin/inguinal mass.
