This paper is a literature review assessing medical therapies for menstrual suppression in adolescents, aiming to compare available options and outline how to tailor selection to different clinical situations. The authors searched PubMed using terms such as menstrual suppression and adolescents and report that multiple treatments can achieve menstrual suppression, each with specific advantages and disadvantages in the adolescent population. They emphasize that choosing between agents should consider clinical indication, medical eligibility, need for contraception, and patient preferences, while also covering differences among hormonal therapies related to bone health, coagulability, and androgenic adverse effects. This paper does not explicitly discuss endometriosis or adenomyosis; it was included in the corpus via a keyword match in the upstream search index.
