Metabolische Effekte und allgemeine Nebenwirkungen bei Endometriose-behandlung mit einem LHRH-Agonisten
Buserelin, an LHRH agonist, effectively treated endometriosis by suppressing ovarian function for six months without causing adverse metabolic or kidney/liver function changes.

Between 1983 and 1986, the study enrolled 40 patients with external genital endometriosis and treated them with the LHRH agonist buserelin to achieve ovarian suppression for 6 months at 900–1,800 µg/day. Liver and kidney function and lipid metabolism were assessed prior to treatment and at regular intervals during therapy, alongside gynecological findings, and no deviations from normal ranges were reported. The general side effects observed were generally attributed to buserelin-induced relative estrogen deficiency, and treatment efficacy was demonstrated by control pelviscopy. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it evaluates metabolic effects and general side effects of buserelin during medical treatment of external genital endometriosis.
