Endometriosis-associated infertility: GDF-9, AMH, and AMHR2 genes polymorphisms
This case-control study found an AMH gene polymorphism associated with infertility in endometriosis, but not polymorphisms in the GDF-9 or AMHR2 genes.

This case-control study examined whether polymorphisms in the GDF-9 gene, AMH gene, and AMHR2 gene are associated with endometriosis-associated infertility, enrolling 74 infertile women with endometriosis and 70 fertile control women undergoing tubal ligation. Genotypes for GDF-9 were determined by direct sequencing, while AMH and AMHR2 SNPs were assessed by TaqMan Allelic Discrimination, with age and mean FSH levels reported as similar between groups. The GDF-9 polymorphisms and an AMHR2 polymorphism showed no statistically significant differences between infertile and fertile groups, whereas an AMH gene polymorphism was significantly associated with infertility in the setting of endometriosis. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it tests AMH, AMHR2, and GDF-9 gene polymorphisms as risk factors for endometriosis-associated infertility.
