miR-17-5p mitigates endometriosis by directly regulating VEGFA
miR-17-5p is down-regulated in endometriosis and inhibits cell proliferation, migration, and invasion by directly repressing VEGFA expression.

The study examined miR-17-5p expression and its impact on VEGFA regulation and endometriosis-related cellular behaviors, using qRT-PCR and Western blot, proliferation assays (CCK-8), migration/invasion assays (transwell), and a luciferase reporter assay to test direct targeting. miR-17-5p was markedly down-regulated in endometriosis tissues, serum, and cells, and miR-17-5p overexpression inhibited endometriosis cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. VEGFA was significantly up-regulated in endometriosis and acted as a target of miR-17-5p, with VEGFA up-regulation restoring proliferative, migratory, and invasive abilities in ECSCs transfected with miR-17-5p mimics. The paper relates to endometriosis by identifying a miR-17-5p/VEGFA regulatory mechanism that mediates endometriosis cell proliferation, migration, and invasion.
