AI-generated summary
This letter corrects two errors in a prior review of danazol, stating it does not inhibit adrenal 16α-hydroxylase and that cited experiments were on isolated fractions, not whole adrenal tissue.
One-sentence paraphrase of the abstract; not a substitute for reading it. No clinical advice. How this works

However, there are a few substantive errors that need correction.Madanes and Farber state than danazol inhibits adrenal 16α-hydroxylase. The paper (2) they cite to support this statement does not examine the effects of danazol on 16α-hydroxylase, and other unpublished reports have shown that danazol does not inhibit 16α-hydyroxylase. The authors state that danazol inhibits microsomal and mitochondrial cytochrome P-450 in cultured adrenal tissue. In fact, the experiments cited were done on isolated mitochondrial and microsomal fractions in vitro...References1. MADANESFARBER AM. Danazol. Ann Intern Med. 1982;96:625-30. LinkGoogle Scholar2.
