The paper reports a case in which a computed tomography (CT) scan showed a perihepatic mass that was diagnosed as endometriosis with malignant transformation confirmed pathologically. It frames endometriosis as extrauterine implantation of endometrial tissue and notes that malignant transformation is rare but has been frequently reported, emphasizing the imaging scenario in this particular patient. The main finding is that perihepatic endometriosis, including malignancy arising from endometriotic foci, can present as a perihepatic mass on CT, and the authors explicitly state that endometriosis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of such masses. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — specifically CT diagnosis of perihepatic endometriosis complicated by malignant transformation.

Abstract. Endometriosis is a condition in which endometrial tissue becomes implanted on extrauterine sites, most commonly within the pelvis. Malignant transformation of endometriotic foci is rare, but has been frequently reported. We describe a patient with a CT scan demonstrating pathologically proven perihepatic endometriosis, including malignant transformation. Endometrioses should be considered in the differential diagnosis of perihepatic masses.
