Cyclic Sciatica in a Patient With Deep Monolateral Endometriosis Infiltrating the Right Sciatic Nerve
This case report presents a patient whose sciatica was caused by deep unilateral endometriosis infiltrating the right sciatic nerve, which was treated with laparoscopic neurolysis.

This case report describes a 41-year-old woman suffering from severe dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, and chronic pelvic pain accompanied by right-sided sciatica caused by deep infiltrating endometriosis involving the sciatic nerve. The patient underwent laparoscopic neurolysis of the affected somatic nerves using the Possover technique to address the nerve infiltration and compression. The authors conclude that endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory condition capable of invading somatic nerves and that surgical neurolysis serves as an effective etiological treatment for relieving associated neurological symptoms. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — specifically the rare presentation of deep infiltrating disease affecting the sciatic nerve and the corresponding surgical management.
