Abstract
This is a color-illustrated advanced clinical monograph that analyzes and compares the three forms of endometriosis: peritoneal, ovarian, and rectovaginal. Three core chapters cover the histopathology of peritoneal endometriosis, ovarian endometriosis, and rectovaginal endometriosis. Each contains sections dealing with laparoscopic appearance and histological confirmation, morphological characteristics and morphometric studies, and immunohistochemical analyses. The data and reviews from these sections are synthesized in the concluding chapter, which examines the similarities and differences between the three disorders. The book contains appendixes on epithelial height, mitotic index, proliferation index, criteria for the evaluation of eutopic and ectopic endometrial morphology, 3-D architecture, morphometric studies, and immunohistochemical analyses. The volume contains an especially valuable reference list for studies on endometriosis.
