Abstract

Endometriosis is a benign condition of female reproductive system marked by ectopic localization of functional endometrial glands and stroma beyond the uterus.Post-episiotomy endometriosis is an uncommon clinical entity, occurring in about 0.3-1% of women.Although the exact etiology remains uncertain, several pathogenetic mechanisms have been proposed.A case of 31-year female (P1L1) with five-year history of recurrent swelling and menstruationrelated pain at the previous episiotomy site is reported. On local examination, 2 x 1 cm pedunculated, keratinized warty lesion was identified at the episiotomy site.Clinical differentials included Bartholin cyst and Hidradenoma papilliferum.Histopathological evaluation revealed endometrial glands as well as stromal elements, establishing the diagnosis of endometriosis at the episiotomy site.
