Abstract
Quistes ovaricos funcionales Los quistes foliculares representan las estructuras quisticas mas frecuentes que se ven en el ovario normal. Los foliculos normales habitualmente son multiples y su tamano varia desde unos milimetros hasta varios centimetros. Los foliculos pueden tornarse quisticos si alcanzan un diametro superior a 3 cm. Se cree que los quistes foliculares crecen en respuesta a las gonadotropinas. Se ignora todavia si los quistes foliculares aparecen cuando los foliculos dominantes no llegan a romperse y liberar sus ovulos o bien cuando los foliculos no dominantes no experimentan el proceso normal de atresia. Los quistes foliculares suelen tener paredes finas, contienen un liquido transparente y alcanzan un diametro maximo de 15 cm [1]. Los quistes del cuerpo luteo provienen de foliculos de Graaf maduros postovulatorios. Como los quistes foliculares, los del cuerpo luteo no se denominan )quistes* hasta que alcanzan un diametro minimo de 3 cm [1]. La mayoria de estos quistes luteos permanece asintomatica y con un tamano reducido con un diametro medio de tan solo 4 cm. Entre 2 y 3 dias despues de la ovulacion, los capilares de paredes finas invaden normalmente las celulas de la granulosa y el sangrado
