This study evaluated surgical techniques and short-term outcomes for deep infiltrating bowel endometriosis in 13 women treated with laparoscopy at a single university department in 2021, after preoperative assessment using ultrasound, MRI, and the #ENZIAN classification. Using interdisziplinäre operative planning with surgery, urology, and radiology, the authors compared segment resection, disk excision, and shaving, and recorded disease/operation data pre- and postoperatively and within 4 weeks using a Deep endometriosis surgical sheet. They found no documented intraoperative complications and one postoperative complication: a ureter stricture after rectal segment resection (Clavien-Dindo IIIb), while first bowel movement occurred on average after 3.1 days and no relevant bowel emptying disturbances were reported at 4 weeks. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it specifically analyzes interdisciplindäre operative approaches for deep infiltrating colorectal endometriosis and their complications/outcomes.
